When over-the-counter skin care products aren't effective, and you don't want surgery, consider minimally invasive treatments to rejuvenate the skin, like microneedling. Our team in Hagerstown, MD is pleased to offer microneedling, or collagen induction therapy, which uses many tiny needles to safely and effectively create micro-injuries in the skin. The micro-injuries prompt the natural production of elastin and collagen, two nutrients that boost the health and appearance of your skin. Easily performed with added-on treatments, like hyaluronic acid, protein-rich retinol, and PRP (platelet-rich plasma), microneedling can be customized to fit your needs and goals. Schedule a consultation at Ageless Skin and Laser Center to learn more about the benefits of microneedling.

If you plan to add PRP to your microneedling treatment, we will take a sample of your blood before we begin that will be placed in a centrifuge machine to separate it into a platelet-rich serum. Our facility offers a double spin process that attains 7-10x more Protein Rich Plasma then our competitors single spin system.  After your microneedling is performed, we will apply the PRP serum, protein-rich retinol of either 4% or 8% or hyaluronic acid to your skin, depending on which additional treatment you choose. Each of these add-ons can boost the results of microneedling and may assist with the healing process. Once the entire process is complete, you may develop mild redness and swelling, but this should fade naturally. You will notice an immediate tightening of the skin however, It can take around 1 – 2 months as the elastin and collagen levels increase before you see noticeable changes in your complexion.

It is so nice to have such an incredible Med Spa in Hagerstown as most Med Spas are 45-90 minutes away! So not only is the location great, I found her prices to be very reasonable. I have been seeing Michelle for miconeedling and treatment of my melasma. After only three visits, my skin tone is noticeably much more even and smooth and my melasma has faded tremendously! Michelle (who is a nurse practitioner) is wonderful...she is professional and very informative. If you don't know what a Med Spa is then you are missing out! She offers injectables (such as Botox and Xeomin), a variety of skin treatments (such as microneedling and chemical peels), laser hair removal, hair restoration, NeoClear laser treatments (for things such as acne, rosacea, spider veins). I am an extremely pleased client and I highly recommend Ageless Skin and Laser Center!

I’ve been going to Ageless for about a year now, I started with Neoskin laser to help some of the skin issues I was having which helped immensely! Then I went ahead and got the Agnes RF microneedling to boost my collagen and help with skin tightening and lately I did the fillers around the cheeks to add volume I was losing due to getting older and losing weight. I owe this clinic everything! My skin and face has never looked better, Emma was AMAZING in listening to my needs and helping me get to my goal. I have more confidence now and I definitely feel so beautiful after all the services they provided. I will never go anywhere else and if they move I will drive 1000 miles to still see them lol. I still look natural which is why I will always choose Ageless.

How much does microneedling cost?

Our team will evaluate your skin during your initial consultation and create your custom treatment plan. Once this is done, they will review your treatment costs and what to expect during the procedure. At Ageless Skin and Laser Center, we frequently offer discounts on skin treatment packages, so ask about current deals during your consultation.

What exactly is microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive procedure to improve the health of your skin. Collagen is a natural fibrous protein that helps your skin stay supple, smooth, and firm. Over time, your supply of collagen is depleted, and your skin gets less elastic and thin. Microneedling makes tiny wounds in your skin. These micro-injuries force your skin to generate new skin cell growth and increase collagen production. Once healed, your skin is healthier, firmer, and brighter.

Can I combine other treatments with microneedling?

In the microneedling process, channels are made that help other treatments to reach the deeper layers. This is why microneedling is often combined with other skin treatments, such as vitamin-rich serums or platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Microneedling with PRP is more commonly known as the vampire facial. In your consultation, our team will discuss what treatments may be performed along with microneedling and which best fits your skin goals.

How many treatments are recommended for optimal results?

Usually, patients get 3 – 6 microneedling treatments to see their best results. However, the amount of sessions you need will depend on your skin's condition and your goals. Microneedling can be done every 4 – 6 weeks as needed. We can estimate how many sessions you might want during your consultation based on your skin and goals. When your skin goals are reached, our team may recommend getting touch-up treatments about twice a year.

Is microneedling safe for everyone?

On the whole, microneedling is safe for all skin types and tones. Since the skin injuries created are so minor, there are rarely side effects afterward. Microneedling can be performed on most skin areas, including the face, neck, arms, chest, and legs. Microneedling isn't recommended if you have used Accutane within the last 2 – 3 months or have an active skin infection, herpes simplex, or open wound. In addition, you might not be a candidate for microneedling if you are nursing, pregnant, or getting radiation treatments.
